State of the Art Neonatology centre was inaugurated during the year 2016-17 with facilities to provide neonatal care to the new born babies.
All deliveries conducted at VHS, both normal and caesarean, are attended to by the neonatologists for resuscitation of the babies at birth. The babies admitted in the NICU are both intramural (VHS born) and extramural (referred from outside). Babies born here have regular check-ups in the Paediatric OP and counselling about feeding, immunisation and child rearing is given to the individuals raising them. Several of the common paediatric emergencies like febrile fits, seizures, dengue shock syndrome, and tablet poisoning are handled in our Paediatric Casualty and admitted as inpatients, if necessary.

All children born here are immunised as per schedule, the vaccination being made available at a subsidised cost. The team of paediatricians also conduct training programmes for nurses on neonatal care.
Paediatric Surgery has been doing variety of cases in all sub-specialities with a fore runner in minimally invasiveive laparoscopy surgery, Paediatric urology, GI, Vascular and Neonatal surgeries performed regularly with the best outcome.
A kid with Neonatal ovarian torsion was managed laparoscopically at the right time and the ovary preserved. A very few centres in Chennai are into neonatal laparoscopic work and we had done it with minuscule ports ,(a feat, very few cases reported prior).
New born emergencies are dealt with regularly. Recently, a rare case of meconium ileus with volvulus was managed successfully.
Infantile huge dumbbell Abdomino scrotal hydrocele - a very rare entity in children was diagnosed and managed with success.
Huge lymphovenous malformations have been excised successfully from anatomically critical regions.
High-end paediatric urological procedures such as infantile pyeloplasties and urethroplasties have been done with hundred percent success achieving the best possible cure at very affordable costs bringing about smiles in innumerous little ones and their families.
