About: Prof. Suresh Seshadri
Prof. Suresh Seshadri is a distinguished pioneer in the field of diagnostic and obstetric ultrasound and fetal medicine in India, with an illustrious career spanning over 43 years. He is the Director of MediScan Systems, Chennai, which he founded in 1982 as a tertiary referral center for prenatal diagnosis and fetal therapy. Under his leadership, MediScan has become a leading institution known for its excellence in diagnostic ultrasound, fetal medicine, and advanced training programs.
Prof. Seshadri has trained over 5,500 doctors from India and across the world, nurturing generations of specialists in ultrasound and fetal medicine. He has performed more than 35,000 fetal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, making significant contributions to improving perinatal outcomes and setting benchmarks for fetal interventions in India.
He currently holds the following key positions:
Professor of Practice, Department of Medical Science and Technology, IIT Madras.
Visiting Professor in Perinatology, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Coimbatore, and Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research, Chennai.

Prof. Seshadri’s academic and clinical interests focus on fetal interventions, early diagnosis of anomalies, multiple pregnancies, and advancing ultrasound education. He is deeply committed to device development for ultrasound training, building fetal databases for reporting, establishing birth defect registries, and exploring applications of artificial intelligence in fetal medicine.
He has played a pivotal role in the standardization of obstetric ultrasound in India, working actively to implement ISUOG (International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology) basic training programs nationwide. His strong belief that advanced medical technology should be accessible to all drives his ongoing work with the government of Tamil Nadu on public–private partnerships for antenatal and neonatal screening programs and in training healthcare providers.
As the Trustee of the Fetal Care Research Foundation, he works tirelessly to support underprivileged families by providing preventive, supportive, and curative care for birth defects and rare disorders.
Prof. Seshadri is a visionary who emphasizes accurate diagnosis, high-quality care, and equitable access, ensuring that even the poor and underserved receive world-class prenatal services. Beyond his professional achievements, he is passionate about nature and wildlife photography, and is an amateur radio enthusiast.
