About: Dr. S. Parthasarathy
Dr. Parthasarathy is an eminent ophthalmologist who completed his MBBS from Kilpauk Medical College in 1985 and pursued postgraduate training in ophthalmology at Thanjavur. Deeply inspired by the eye health needs of rural Tamil Nadu and the words of Swami Vivekananda, he joined Voluntary Health Services (VHS) as an Honorary Eye Specialist in 1988 — a role he continues with unwavering dedication. Over the years, he has been instrumental in expanding community eye care, raising cataract surgeries at VHS from 250 to 4,000 per year, and spearheading free surgical initiatives. He has also supported establishing permanent eye care facilities and modernizing the VHS Eye Department, with the help of multiple service organizations and philanthropists. Passionate about preventing blindness and serving the underprivileged, Dr. Parthasarathy remains a driving force in community ophthalmology.
