Dr Chary Duraikannu

Dr. Chary Duraikannu is an experienced Head of the Department of Radiology with a subspecialty interest in Cardiothoracic Imaging and PET-CT reporting. He completed his MBBS from Madras Medical College & Research Institute, Chennai, followed by DMRD from Barnard Institute of Radiology and DNB in Radiology from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR), UK, and obtained specialist registration in the United Kingdom in 2023.
He has extensive clinical experience in both India and the NHS, UK, including several years of work as a Consultant Radiologist across NHS hospitals. He also completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Imaging at Royal Stoke University Hospital, with specialised expertise in Cardiac CT, Cardiac MRI, Chest Imaging and PET-CT reporting. He previously served as Head of the Department of Radiology at NARUVI Hospitals, Vellore, where he was actively involved in postgraduate teaching and training, DNB thesis guidance, clinical supervision, academic assessments, multidisciplinary meetings and advanced cardiac imaging.
With strong international experience and a commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Chary has contributed extensively to radiology education and training, including supervision and training of UK registrars and participation in professional teaching programmes and seminars. He is a member of the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR), Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA), Indian Association of Cardiac Imaging (IACI), British Society of Cardiovascular Imaging (BSCI), and European Society of Radiology (ESR).
