Dr. Priya Kannian

Dr. Priya Kannian, PhD, is Scientist and Head of the Department of Clinical Research and Head & Microbiologist at VHS Laboratory Services, Voluntary Health Services, Chennai. She completed her PhD at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, and BITS Pilani, followed by postdoctoral training at The Ohio State University, Harvard School of Public Health, and Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School, USA. Her research focuses on infectious disease pathogenesis at the cellular and molecular levels, with interests in mucosal immunology in COVID-19, T cell senescence in HIV, and biomarkers in Pneumocystis-related respiratory diseases. Dr. Kannian also serves as Member Secretary of the VHS Scientific Advisory Committee and Institutional Ethics Committee and is the Infection Control Officer at VHS. She has published widely, including studies on SARS-CoV-2 detection, multidrug-resistant infections, and mucosal immune responses.
