VHS Covid Treatment Center (VCTC)

Voluntary Health Services (VHS) treated the first case of COVID19 in the last week of March 2020. Since then a dedicated facility named VHS COVID19 Treatment Centre (VCTC) was created. Govt of India recognized this facility as a referral dedicated centre for COVID19 Diagnosis and Treatment.

Outpatient clinic for patients with confirmed and suspected COVID19 was developed thru the Emergency room of the VHS hospital. This facility is 24hrs, manned by doctors, nurses and supportive staff.

VHS COVID19 Treatment Centre has a 9 bedded dedicated COVID19 Intensive care Unit, 16 individual delux room (COVID-A ward), 6 individual rooms (COVID-B ward) and 24 semi-private cubicles (COVID-C ward). All these 55 bedded COVID inpatient care facility are supported by a specialist team consisting of Critical Care Medicine, Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Diabetology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Transfusion Medicine ,Psychiatry, Sonology and Surgery.

VHS Laboratory is a NABL certified facility and recognized by ICMR as a COVID19 diagnostic facility. Laboratory conducts COVID19 RT PCR, COVID19 Antigen test, COVID19 Antibody and all other supportive biochemical and molecular assays for the management and followup of COVID19 patients.
VHS COVID19 Treatment Centre also offers Telemedicine. VHS Blood bank has facilities for COVID19 convalescent plasma donation and storage.

More than 1200 COVID19 patients have received care at our VHS COVID19 Treatment Centre. Post COVID19 follow up clinics are setup and patients are advised to attend this facility after discharge and after home quarantine for follow up specialized care.

VHS Infectious Diseases Medical Centre conducts various research activities involving treatment and prevention for COVID19. The centre carries out randomized drug trials, vaccine trials and observational studies in COVID19 in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), National Institute of Health (NIH), and Pharmaceutical industrie to develop newer medications for the treatment of COVID19 and vaccines for the prevention of COVID19. This centre also carry out pathogenesis and diagnostic studies in COVID19.

Ever since the onset of the sudden wave of the COVID 19 pandemic, VHS has left no stone unturned to provide this dedicated set up exclusive for COVID19 care and research.
