The General Medicine Department in voluntary health services is the major department to which most patients go for treatment of several infections and non communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol.

The department runs a daily outpatient service in the morning hours. Patients needing in patient care are admitted in wards under the department for monitoring and treatment.

In addition patients with medical emergencies, are also received in the emergency room throughout 24 hours and attended to. The department also runs a well equipped ICU with ventilators and monitors for the care of critically ill patients, which is manned 24 hours.

The department is headed by Dr. Sudha Vidyasagar who is a professor of medicine with 40 years experience. She is ably assisted by staff members. The department also has an academic component, and has begun the DNB course and is involved in the teaching and training of post graduates from September 2023.
